Its that time of year again where I haunt the Brighton Centre for their annual model madness. ModelWorld. This is a model railway well known to Brighton residents.
There are so many fans of 2001 that I cannot beleive no one has either discovered where this room is or built a recreation of it. I think it has a chilling atmosphere all of its own! Isnt it strange that the only time you see rooms in 2001 a Space Odyssey they are either lit from the walls or the floor. . . Never the ceiling!
I would LOVE one of these! They look so beleivable in the film that I would not be surprised to see them built to this design ONCE the various space efforts of the world progress to the stage where Space Pods would be needed! Then hopefully Ill buy one!
I built a model of this vehicle. It is a Moonbus . In the film it travels from Clavius base to the TMA 1

site. My model (By Aurora) was not a great credit to the real Moonbus and after many years went the way of all models.
Then I saw one on EBAY. Made. It sold for nearly £90. If it hade been unmade it would have made nearer £250! Incredible that a 40 year old film still has such a following.
Here I am again. Still on my 2001 thing! When I first watched this film in Maidstone there were a couple behind me who found this shot hilarious! 40 years on and I still cannot see the joke!
Yes it is a picture from 2001 a Space odyssey. . . . .Why? Because simply it is the greatest film I have ever seen in my life and I wanted to share that fact with you. As well as some stills!
And so farewell to a great man and a very VERY close friend. A man whose undemanding nature and kindliness to all was somehow humbling. Not that Phil would seek to humble anyone. In his inate humanity to EVERYONE he met he was in his quiet way a giant amongst us. His gentle kindly polite nature and perfect manners alowed one to glimse a more genteel age when such behaviour was common and almost universal. A wonderful wonderful man whom I shall never forget for as long as I walk this world.
Goodbye Phil . You have left a hole here that will never be filled. Break a leg and on with the show! I love you!
Playtime. With my big boys toy.
I have my childish moments when I play with my verious toys . These includ model railway, playstation 2, PC games and flightsimming and as here a 1/8th scale volkswagen. I dont ever want to grow up!
The stars out tonight and . . . . .
Ive lost my marbles. Honestly . If you remove my lid there is nothing there. Scary. So how am I writing this!.

Here is a governer from a traction engine. Posted for no other reason than that I am fiddling around with "hello" and this was the picture I happened to click on. I bet you really wanted to know all this!

Ah my real love. Steam locomotives. This one is a Terrier because it is quite small, very powerful and doesnt know when to give up. Just like a terrier. It is over a hundred years old yet is still in full working order. Indeed some were still earning their keep in 1969! I wonder if the Airbus will still be around in a hundred years time. Cant see it myself .
Now this is something that you do not see every day. And you thought old age ,wind and sea had brought down Brighton's West Pier. Now the truth can be revealed.
